A Chinese: If everyone can do it, I can do it.
A German: If everyone can do it, I will do it.
An Egyptian: If everyone can do it, let them do it!
You’re hungry? Order it! You’re too busy? Hire someone to do it! You want something? Just buy it. We like to take the easy way out.
During Summer 2020, which was spent half on Instagram doing nothing, I came across a necklace I saw on my favourite Instagram blogger Negin Mirsalehi.
I started looking for places I could buy it from. But no luck.
The more I was searching for it, the more my desire for that necklace grew.
In hindsight, I think I was reflecting my boredom on that necklace.
I thought everyone had it or wanted it and that’s why I couldn’t find it.
So, after asking around for a while, I gave up.
One Friday evening, I was rambling about the necklace, when my 10-year-old cousin had the brilliant idea to make it myself. Astonished by his suggestion, I bought all the pearls I needed and made it on my own.
It took me like 15 minutes, instead of the one and a half months I wasted looking for it.
But this isn’t a post about making necklaces.
It’s about the satisfaction you feel, when you put work into something, money could never buy. Good things, if your lucky, may come easy. But great things, require hard work, commitment and your heart. Put your heart in everything you do. That way you’ll never lose.
Love,
Nour
