Fashion is Passion

Fashion is something I have been in love with since I was a little girl. I would choose my own outfits and insist on wearing them no matter how ridiculous they looked. It brought me happiness and gave me confidence growing up. I’m not saying I was the 24/7 fabulously styled girl like the ones we see on Instagram these days. But I think for my days, it was pretty okay. My days? I am getting old, but let’s focus on the topic.
I’m not sure if you choose fashion or if fashion chooses you. I’m not even quite sure what Fashion stands for. In the English dictionary it is defined as a manner of doing something. So why is it nowadays always about designer bags, luxury watches or the couture dress we saw Kendall Jenner grabbing a smoothie in? Why do all Instagram bloggers outfits cost no less than 8,000 dollars and if they are wearing something on the more affordable end of the scale, its always noticeably highlighted?
I’m not saying I don’t like brands. I do. But for me it has nothing to do with Fashion. If I buy a designer piece, its because I like how it looks. But it is never a necessity so I can feel fashionable. Some of the outfits I feel most comfortable in, are from head to toe from H&M.
Fashion is a passion. It’s art and a form of expression and can’t be monetary measured. Its beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. It can help you stand out or blend in. The choice is yours. For some its sweatpants and for others the latest Elie Saab dress. And there is nothing wrong with that. It should give you whether male or female, young or old, power. Power to be who you are and show it to the world. Never let anyone shame you on your choices in life. Enjoy the freedom of your decisions!
With love,
Nour
